Access to Top Undergraduate and Graduate Students

Whether you're looking to find great candidates for internships or full-time positions, we make it easy for you to find the right people.

  • We provide custom recruiting. Our corporate liaison works with you to create innovative, customized and productive recruiting events at UCSB or wherever you choose
  • The corporate liaison will pre-qualify student resumes based on your specific company criteria. As a member of the Corporate Affiliates Program, you can also enhance your recruitment efforts by highlighting jobs and internships on the College of Engineering website.
  • We help customize your internship and summer associate positions to align your business needs and research interests with our students' capabilities. Our corporate liaison will help recruit and pre-qualify candidates for your positions.
  • Our senior capstone project program offers you the opportunity to work closely with graduating seniors, and our corporate liaison can work with you to help match your interests with those of our students.
  • Your company can get a competitive edge and heightened visibility by naming an undergraduate scholarship. You can help in assigning criteria and screening of applicants.

Access to Internationally-Renowned Faculty

The faculty of Engineering and the Sciences at UCSB are global leaders in bioengineering, chemical and computational engineering, marine and environmental science, materials science nanotechnology and physics. We have five Nobel Laureates (four in sciences and engineering) and one winner of the prestigious international Millennium Award. And our professors' research is among the most cited by their peers, evidence of the significance and relevance of their work. We realize there are a wide range of reasons why you would be interested in talking or consulting with our faculty, and we've created several ways to facilitate the process.

  • Our Faculty Profile Database includes a complete listing of faculty in engineering and the sciences, including their background, publications, research interests, affiliations, contact information and other data. This information is available through our Industry Center web site.
  • Opportunities to co-jointly pursue valuable external funding such as UC Discovery Grants, Micro Grants and other government-sponsored grants based on faculty-industry collaborations.
  • Faculty advisory services: as a member you will receive advisory services and exploratory discussions with faculty and other researchers who participate in the program. The corporate liaison facilitates this faculty connection. These advisory services can be tailored to fit your business needs and can take the form of the following, for example:
    • A Custom Lecture Series with faculty and/or researches on specific research topics, at your facilities, at UCSB, or at another location. Such lectures can also be leveraged as custom recruiting events with targeted students.
    • Custom Technology Updates and Research Reviews, geared specifically to your company's interests and needs.

Access to Research, Facilities and Specialized Educational Programs

The University of California, Santa Barbara has many varied resources – from a brand new state-of-the-art nanofabrication facility to laboratories, diagnostic equipment, meeting facilities, and much more, many of which are available to members of the Corporate Affiliates Program. We also provide a range of specialized events, symposiums and other educational programs to meet your staff and client needs. Services include:

  • Access to specific facilities and sophisticated equipment: allowing you to extend your research through our resources.
  • Technology mapping: the corporate liaison can work with you to identify your technology areas of interest, and then identify appropriate faculty, researchers, and funding capabilities for your staff to expedite access and help ensure the full use of available benefits.
  • Educational opportunities to allow your staff to stay on top of the latest research and thinking in your field. The corporate affiliates liaison will ensure you can take advantage of the educational resources available through UCSB.
  • Access to seminars and lectures: we ensure that you are aware of the many presentations and lectures on campus relevant to your interests – and you are invited to come.

Industry Center web site

We have created a new web site to specifically support Corporate partners. The portal provides access to the latest research news from Engineering and the Sciences at UCSB, upcoming events, and information about faculty. Corporate Affiliate Members can access detailed faculty profiles and are provided direct access for arranging meetings with participating faculty. Members of the program will also be able to use the site to enhance their recruitment efforts by posting jobs and internships on the site.

Corporate Insight Day – Just For Your Firm

Depending on your company's specific objectives, membership as a corporate affiliate entitles you to create a one-day event on campus, designed to meet your unique needs. You can, for example, plan a technology overview, custom tours of labs and facilities, discussions with faculty, individualized recruiting events, or a combination of different approaches.

Heightened Corporate Visibility and Exposure on Campus

Affiliation with Engineering and the Sciences at UCSB will create a variety of opportunities for positive visibility. Your company will have placement at all Engineering and the Sciences events and your logo will appear on the Engineering web site and in key collateral and publications. We can also create special discounted advertising opportunities in our award-winning magazine, Convergence, which is mailed to more than 20,000 individuals interested in engineering and the sciences, and is delivered to about 5,000 residents and high-tech employees in the tri-counties area.

Strategic Advisory Role

As a member of the Corporate Affiliates Program, your company is invited to place a senior executive on the Deans' Corporate Advisory Board. The board advises the Deans of Engineering and the Sciences about industry challenges and needs. In addition, the Deans find the input from industry invaluable as they design undergraduate and graduate curriculum and programs.

Valuable Extra Benefits

Beyond Engineering and the Sciences, the larger university provides a wealth of resources -- and we make many of these available to members of our Corporate Affiliates Program. These include, for example: an affiliate VIP campus parking pass; a UCSB library card with access to thousands of web resources; and special invitations to prime campus events such as the Chancellor's Year-End Reception, and other VIP events.
